Our Ceiling Repair Process

We follow a proven process to ensure every ceiling repair is done to the highest standard.

  1. Inspect & Identify the Cause
For water damage, we’ll remove the plaster so we can find the source of the leak. You may then need to get a plumber or roofer to fix the cause of the leak.
  2. Protect Your Home
For water damage, we’ll remove the plaster so we can find the source of the leak. You may then need to get a plumber or roofer to fix the cause of the leak.
  3. Remove Damaged Sections
We cut out cracked, sagging, or water-damaged plasterboard and dispose of it safely.
  1. Repair or Replace
For minor cracks, we fill and smooth the area. For larger damage, we fit new plasterboard panels and secure them to the ceiling framework.
  2. Taping & Jointing
Professional plasterboard tape and joint compound are applied, then feathered out for a seamless blend with the existing ceiling.
  3. Sanding & Finishing
Once dry, the area is sanded to a perfectly smooth finish, ready for painting.

Plaster? Plasterboard? Gyprock? Drywall?

Plaster, plasterboard, Gyprock, and drywall are all different names for exactly the same thing:

  • In Australia the most common term used is plasterboard, which is a sheet of solid plaster covered in thick paper.
  • Plaster can refer to both a plasterboard and to the powder that is mixed with water and applied with a trowel. It’s used to cover the gaps where sheets meet.
  • Gyprock is a brand of plasterboard that became so dominant that people started using it to refer to all plasterboard regardless of who made it.
  • Drywall is more commonly used in the USA.

“We are caretakers for a large domestic complex in Silverwater, we have engaged John on two occasions to repair some water damaged gyprock. John’s no fuss “let’s get it done” approach saves time and money. John deals with the occupants himself, we have no issues with John being left with his workers to get the work done.”
Peter & Sue, Silverwater, Sydney

“I had a large problem ceiling with minimal tolerances to work with and John was able to deliver a perfect ceiling which exceeded expectations. He listened to my problems and understood what was needed in this complicated situation and delivered a result that saved the day. Since then I have used John for other jobs all done with the expertise and attention to detail that I have come to expect. Happy to call on him again when needed.”
