Gyprock Ceiling Repair Process
With over 30 years experience, our proven process ensures every gyprock ceiling repair or replacement projects is completed to a high standard.
- Inspect & Identify Cause
If there’s been water damage, we remove the gyprock to see where the water is coming from. You’ll probably then need to call a roofer or plumber to fix the leak. - Protect Your Home
To keep your space clean, we cover the floors, walls, and furniture before work begins. - Remove Damaged Sections
We cut out sagging, cracked or water-damaged gyprock and dispose of it.
- Repair or Replace
For small cracks, we might just tape, fill and smooth the area. But for other damage, we’ll fit new gyprock sheets and secure them to the ceiling frame. - Taping & Jointing
Gyprock tape and joint compound is applied to joins, and feathered out to achieve a seamless blend with the existing ceiling. - Sanding & Finishing
When the joint compound has dried, we sand it to a perfectly smooth finish, that’s ready to be painted.
Gyprock? Plaster? Drywall? Or Plasterboard?
Gyprock, plaster, plasterboard, and drywall are different names for a sheet of plaster covered in thick paper.
- In Australia the most common term used is plasterboard.
- Plaster refers to a plasterboard sheet and also to the powder that is then mixed with water and applied with a trowel to cover cracks and gaps where sheets meet.
- Gyprock is a brand of plaster sheet that became so dominant that it became synonymous with plasterboard.
- In the USA drywall is commonly used to refer to plasterboard.
