Plaster Ceiling Repair Process
Our professional plaster repair process ensures every project is completed to the highest standard.
- Inspect & Identify the Cause
For water damaged plaster, we remove the plasterboard to find the source of the leak. You may then need to get a plumber or roofer to fix the cause of the leak. - Protect Your Home
We cover floors, walls, and furniture before work begins to keep your space clean. - Remove Damaged Sections
We cut out water-damaged, cracked or sagging plaster and dispose of it safely.
- Repair or Replace
For larger damage, we fit new plaster sheets and secure them to the ceiling framework. For minor cracks, we fill and smooth the area. - Taping & Jointing
Joins are taped and joint compound is applied and feathered out for a seamless blend with the existing ceiling. - Sanding & Finishing
Once the joint compound is dry, it’s sanded to a perfect, smooth finish, ready for painting.
Plaster? Plasterboard? Drywall? Gyprock?
Plasterboard, plaster, drywall and Gyprock, are all names for exactly the same thing: a sheet of solid plaster covered in thick paper.
- The most common term that’s used in Australia is plasterboard.
- Plaster can refer to both plasterboard and to the powder that’s mixed with water and applied to fill the gaps where sheets meet.
- Gyprock is a brand name of plasterboard which became dominant and people started using it to refer to all plasterboard.
- Drywall is rarely used in Australia, and is more common in the USA.
“John was wonderful! Had patterned ceilings so they were a bit tricky but the work was good, he was prompt and reliable and I’m happy with it all.”
